What to do?

For the past 9+ months, I have been out of work.  Now I have two opportunities.  Oh the decisions!

Actually, I have started one job and it is about 3 hours away from home.  My plan is to leave Friday afternoon around 2 to 3PM provided I do not have something else planned that day such as meetings.  This will put me home around 5 to 6PM and will give me roughly 2 days at home before I would have to travel back.

This new job opportunity is like 8+ hours away from home and I need to be onsite every week in the beginning with the chance to have it reduced to two weeks onsite and 1 week remote.  I get to come home every week in the beginning, but that is 16 or so hours of traveling every weekend. I may be home for a day before I would have to travel back.  In this new job I am sure I would be making about 20 to 30 dollars more power hour.

What to do, what to do, what to do?  The honorable thing to do would be to stand by my commitment and continue to work at the site I am currently at.  However, the money from the other is really too good to pass up.  What would you do?

I will pray to God, but I have pretty much made up my mind.  I will be staying at the current job.  I am reminded of the love of money, chasing after riches, and serving two gods.

Matthew 6:24 New International Version (NIV)

24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

1 Timothy 6:9-11 New International Version (NIV)

Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

Final Charge to Timothy

11 But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.

Luke 12:15 New International Version (NIV)

15 Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”

You have to be careful when making decisions.  It is always a good idea to get God involved with your life.  He will help guide you to do His will and it may be something you do not really want to do.   However, the choice is yours to make and I pray you make the right one.
