Easter passed a few days ago and that is the time that we as Christians celebrate the resurrection of Christ. Does it really matter? Do you need Jesus? The answer to both is yes.
Why do you need Christ? When God created man, man was perfect in the image of God. However, God also gave man free will and with that will man disobeyed God and committed sin.
Romans 3:23 New International Version (NIV)
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
People think God should accept them as they are with their sin and all, but what is not realized is that God cannot be in the presence of sin. So what did God do, He decided to save man and sent His only Son down to Earth to live life as a man.
As Christ lived His life, He taught many people about God and helped many change their life around. Did everyone accept Christ and obey Him? No, in fact he was hated by many and chased out of communities because they feared Him.
So what does this have to do with why you need Jesus? Glad you asked. First you needed to understand man and how man sinned, then you needed to understand that God loved man so he sent His Son down to not only understand how man lived and the troubles that man goes through, but to experience them all first hand, then Christ had to die as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. God did not have to allow His Son to die, but did so because He loves each and everyone of us and wants us all to be with Him forever.
John 3:16-21 New International Version (NIV)
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
Think about that, before Christ man sacrificed grains and animals to atone for sins because that was what God demanded. After His son came down, became sin, died, and was resurrected all you have to do is believe in Christ. Is it easy? No!
If believing in Christ were so easy, then everyone would go to Heaven, but it is has already been mentioned that the path is narrow.
Matthew 7:13-14 New International Version (NIV)
The Narrow and Wide Gates
13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Where do you want to end up, in Hell with Satan to be tormented for eternity or with God and Christ in Heaven? The choice is yours, but if you decide you want to be in Heaven with God for eternity, then you know why you need Jesus.
I pray that you are able to make the right choice and no it will not be easy and in fact it may cause you problems, but remember that your treasures are not here on earth.
Matthew 6:19-20 New International Version (NIV)
Treasures in Heaven
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
I also pray that you are at peace even in these troubled times and that you seek help from God and Christ. I pray that you remember that God will not allow you to endure more than you can handle. I pray that you remember that you can easily be influenced by the Devil, so resist Him at all cost and again that is not an easy task since He makes all those things we are not supposed to do seem so tempting. In Jesus lovely name I pray, Amen!
