Resolutions

Most people make resolutions at the beginning of the new year that last maybe a couple of weeks to a couple of months, then they are done. Why is this?

I am sure some of it is psychological, but I would venture to guess that most of it has to do with our own flesh or listening to the lies of the great deceiver.

Most of the resolutions revolve around wealth, diet, fitness, and health. Lets face it, most want more money to buy things we really do not need. We go on diets to help with weight issues and potentially other things. We want to get into shape because it helps our self-esteem. Finally, we all want to be healthy so we have better lives.

What was missing out of all of those resolutions? The answer is simple others, Jesus, and God. Very few people make a resolution to spend more time with God or to become more like Jesus. Nor do they make resolutions to where they will have a positive impact on someones life. In other words, most of us are selfish.

I am here to urge you to change your resolutions this year. Make a resolution to read and understand at least one devotional or Bible verse per day. Make a resolution to spend just a little time with God each day. Make a resolution to love others no matter what.

Yes this is a huge request, but I firmly believe that your life will be changed forever and in the process, you may just change the life of others. I also believe that this has to start somewhere and that is my goal for 2019. Now I will not make it a resolution, but rather a goal so it becomes a permanent part of my life.
