With all the outcry over this life matters and that life matters, has anyone ever stopped to consider Christ’s life? I am going to say no, because most people are self-centered and selfish.
God loves us enough to send His son, John 3:16, but why did Christ come?
Christ came to Earth for many reasons:
- He came to fulfill the Law of Moses, Matthew 5:17 and 18
- He came to die for the sins of the world, Matthew 20:28
- He came to fulfill a promise, Genesis 3:15, Genesis 12:3, 2 Samuel 7:12, Romans 15: 8 and 9, and Luke 1:31 to 33.
- He came to reveal God even more to humanity, John 1:18
- He came to be an example for believers, 1 Peter 2:21
- He came to sympathize with believers, Hebrews 4:14 to 16
- He came to teach, Matthew 5:2
- He came to bring a new covenant, Matthew 26:26 to 28
- He came to judge, John 5: 22 to 27
- He came to destroy Satan’s works, 1 John 3:8
We as Christians are instructed to follow Christ and to be obedient to Him. He gave us many assignments, but this was the greatest, the Great Commission as written in Matthew 28:16 through 20. Will you obey Him?
Remember, He came to die for the sins of the world, but He had also asked God to take this cup away if at all possible, see Luke 22:42 and Matthew 26:39. Despite His request, He followed it up with not my will but yours be done. Does Christ’s life matter to you at all or does His sacrifice?
The question is are you going to throw away what Christ did for you or are you going to repent?
Are you struggling with Christ’s way of life and what He did and how He acted and what He requires of us? You are not alone, but it is a matter of choice. You can decide to be obedient or not.
If you want to be obedient, but are having a hard time doing so, then pray. Ask God to show you the areas of your life where you are not being obedient. Ask Him to help you become more obedient. You asked Him for help, but now comes the hard part, being silent, still, waiting for Him to answer, and then accepting the answer He has provided.
