Friends

Spent the evening with some good friends tonight we had dinner and just sat around and talked.  I think they enjoy our company, but on the way home tonight, my wife said something about how hard it was to tell if they were enjoying their selves and I agree.

We discussed the direction of the church and the fact that the christian denomination I belong to is getting ready to change some of the disciplines.  It was an enjoyable talk although I am not sure I 100% agree with them on the the future of the church.

I may not act like it all the time, but I trust the Lord.  I know that I can do very little without his help and the same goes for the church. Therefore, if God wants the church to fail it will, but I do not believe He wants any church to fail, but will discipline them and let them make their own choice.

Churches today seem to be on the verge of rewriting Gods word because they are scared of what is going to happen.  So my question is, is God bigger than any worldly problem?  If yes, then speak the truth, stop trying to cater to man and accepting his way, and let God work the rest of it out.

Tonight at dinner we told our friends that we were going to play a prank on our kids.  My wife pretended to be pregnant and sent a sonogram with some other information to the kids.  I know that both believed it for a while even though they will not admit it.  However, they both thought the image was of our friends daughter who is pregnant and expecting in about 5 months, but it was not.  My son came home and did some investigation and eventually figured it out.

I will say that it was good to relax somewhat, but unfortunately I could not relax all the way.  Trying to still figure out what is happening with my sons car.  It revs high then drops.  Replaced the IACV, but I am thinking in my haste to get it all back together, that I may have inadvertently put on the intake manifold gasket in reverse which would mean that coolant cannot flow properly. So now I need to take apart the intake manifold yet again, Ugh!  I just wish cars were as simple as they use to be. Compression is good and it runs fine at higher rpms.

Anyway, back to friends.  Friends are important.

John 15:12-15 New International Version (NIV)

12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

Do you have Godly friends?  Who do you hang out with?  If the friends influence in your life is in the wrong direction, even good friends can lead you astray.  As you become more aware of God and try to live a Godly life, just realize that your friends may change so do not be surprised.

I pray that you have friends who will speak the truth and who are Godly people, because you need them.  However, I pray that if you are having problems, that you realize that you have a friend here, but more importantly you have a heavenly friend in Christ.
