Possessions

I watched in amazement as a man tried to cram his oversized suitcase into the overhead storage on the plane.  He was having serious issues.  He pulled out the suitcase and found a person laptop bag and moved it to the side, then proceeded to try and cram his suitcase back up in the area.  I was like wow, I felt sorry for the person that had the laptop as there was a good chance it was broken.

So I am sitting there thinking why is that people are so rude that they really do not care if they destroy property that belongs to someone else.  Then it hit me, the property they were potentially destroying was actually God’s property.  You see, we are here temporarily and as such, we are not really owners of the property, but temporary caretakers.

The property that we take care of is either passed down to our kids, passed down to others through charities or thrift type stores, or discarded as junk.  Think if God had decided you were junk and just simply threw you away or let you get destroyed by someone or some being.  No one can come after you unless you give them permission or God gives them permission.  Remember that God gave Satan permission to go after Job with pretty much everything except killing him, but Job did not blame the Lord at any point in time.  Of course Job was a bit confused, but ultimately he said we cannot only accept the good without accepting the bad.

So the next time you decide to treat your property like trash, or try to destroy another persons property, or decide that the item is junk and throw it out, just remember that it is really God’s property and do you want to disrespect the Lord?

I may not always show my love for the Lord in the way that I should, but there is one thing that I do and that is take care of the property He has entrusted me with. It does not mean I do not make mistakes, but I do not go out of my way to destroy mine or anyone others property.
