National Anthem

Recently, one football player decided to sit down during the National Anthem and decided that he will not stand because blacks and people of color are oppressed.

Well lets look at the definition of oppressed that I think he is referring too:

Oppressed: To keep down by severe and unjust use of force or authority

Well first off this is true for every American, not just black people or people of color. The American government:Federal, State, and Local is trying to do this to all of its citizens.  Secondly, and this is what upset me most was the he was blaming police.  No where in his speech did he reprimand criminals and ask them to stop committing crimes. Lastly, I think he was disrespectful to everyone in this country.  Yes he has the right to do it as that is what the military is fighting to protect, his civil rights. However, just because you can do something does not mean you should.

Are there bad police office of course there are and they should be dealt with by the legal system.  However, no police officer should have to wait to see what is going to happen.  The police have a split second to decide do I shoot or not.  By not shooting, they are not only endangering their lives, but any future victims the criminal may hurt. I am not advocating that the police should go in and shoot first then ask questions, but give these men and woman who are here to serve and protect out towns and cities a break.

If anyone thinks being a police officer is easy and that they would have made different decisions, then please become an officer and show them what they are doing wrong.  I will almost guarantee that after a short period of time of seeing the violent crimes day in and day out that you too will become more cautious and might shoot first.

Like I said above, no one has said to people stop committing crimes.  What is often heard is my son was a good boy so what if he has a rap sheet that is a mile long and had a knife and was approaching the police officer, he would not have hurt anyone.  Then we have the incident of a man beating a police officer up in his vehicle and the police officer defends himself, but the officer is at fault.  Now we have people just walking up and shooting the police or stabbing them or committing some other violent act against them.

What is the world coming too?

We need to respect life, respect those around us, follow the law of the land so long as it does not go against God.  We need to love everyone and treat them as we want to be treated.

I urge people to stop and think about what they are doing and ask God for help.  You may be discouraged, I know I am at times, but that does not mean you just give up and say something the effect of “God did not answer me when I wanted so there must be no God.”  You have to work around God’s time line, He does not work around yours.
