Romans 12:19 New International Version (NIV)
19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.
I was watching 48 hours with my wife the other day and saw a case where a woman who had left DNA and finger prints in blood at the scene was found not guilty. Her DNA was everywhere including on the victim.
The defense attorney argued that it could have been placed there by transfer. Say what? You cannot transfer one DNA without leaving trace of the other DNA if there was another. Even still, how do you explain finger print in the blood? It was established that the victim did not know this woman.
How the jury could find her not guilty is beyond me. Everyone says it was the right decision. Again say what? Wow!. Our judicial system sucks. Criminals go free, but the innocent are jailed. Criminals are looked upon as victims and victims are portrayed as criminals. We make excuses for why they are that way and frankly the excuses do not matter. We need to hold people accountable for their actions and if anyone is caught taking a bribe, then they get the same punishment as though they had not only committed that crime, but have now taken a bribe to let a criminal go.
I told my wife that if this happened to my daughter, there is nothing on this planet that would prevent me from seeking justice, nothing. Fortunately, I serve a God that cold prevent me and is much greater than I and has said that vengeance is His. I just pray that I would remember this if that time ever comes.
If you too are upset with how our judicial system works, then I urge you to seek comfort with God. God may not take vengeance in the time that you want, but He will in the end. We need to be praying that these criminals change their lives around and seek forgiveness from God and come to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Unfortunately, it is hard for us to say God allow this criminal into Heaven if they have been saved when they have done something that can drastically alter our lives, but that is what we need to do. When our judicial system breaks down, we need to forgive them, pray they become saved, and let God handle the rest. That is very tough to do and I know that I would have a hard time with this, but I am praying now that God will speak to me if that time ever comes. I just pray it does not and that He keeps my wife, daughter, and son safe. Pray that God will grant you the peace that is needed when something happens to your loved ones.
