The Good Ol Days

Were the “Good ol days”, so good?   Honestly, I do not know.  Things were simpler, but yet harder.  Think about the conveniences we have today compared to the 50s, if you can think about such things.  If you did not live then, then think about 5, 10, 15, even 20 years ago, what were things like then compared to now?

My main reason for making this post deals with peoples attitude.  Is there really any difference in how people acted then compared to now?  I would venture to say no.  I know people refer to a time when people treated others with respect and seemed to care about them before they cared about themselves, but was that really the case?  I would also say that this is a big no.

If you look at the Bible, it talks about selfishness in both the Old and New Testaments.  So it can safely be said that selfishness has been part of us for a very long time, but why?

You could say that God built this into us, but that is not the truth.  He built in us Free Will and He gave control of Earth to Satan for a period of time.  Remember that Satan is the Father of Lies.  He whether you believe it or not will whisper stuff into your ears that makes sense and you will think that by putting yourself first your are you doing what everyone else is doing,  It just seems to make sense, put number one first, and we all know who number one is?  Then I want you to think of Christ.

Christ came to serve:

Matthew 20:28 New International Version (NIV)

28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Now if the son of God came to serve you, what makes you think you are any better?  I know this is difficult, because we have been taught for so long to think of our-self before others, but I promise that by serving others you will fell more satisfied and fulfilled.  It will not be easy because people can be so demanding, but you have the ability to accomplish anything you want.  Just ask God for help at all phases and you will be amazed at what can be done.
