While I had my doubts about the ability of a lot of Minnesota drivers, today when getting ready to pull into a parking space, a truck was pulling forward. He saw me and put the truck in reverse and backed out. I thought that was very nice and it is not often today that people actually think of others.
I know part of this has to do with entitlement, where people think they have the right just because, but how did that all get started? Well sure man was involved, but I honestly believe it is due to the Devil and our inability to recognize that He is not only very dangerous, but He is also just about everywhere. I do not believe that He has the same power as God in being omnipresent, but I do believe He is a very powerful foe and should be recognized as such.
I think humans and I include myself in there from time to time think the Devil is such a pushover and we can easily defeat Him. The reality is that He makes things so tempting and seem like the truth that He is very difficult to defeat without the help of God. Remember, Satan twisted the truth when he tempted Christ, but Christ understood the word and was able to resist His worldly temptations.
What does this all have to do with an act of kindness? Well the next time that you are confronted with someone that seems to be hateful, prideful, arrogant, selfish, entitled, etc., just remember this
Ephesians 6:12 New International Version (NIV)
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Our biggest fight is not what we can see, but what we cannot. This is a spiritual war that we must recognize and understand if we are going to have any success.
I pray that you that you will know the truth and be able to resist the Devil for He is a formidable foe who deserves your respect. I pray that Holy Spirit will guide you in making the decisions that God wants you to make. I pray that you will show an act of kindness to another whether you think they deserve it or not. In Jesus I pray amen!
