Today on the way to the store, I am going to the speed limit and so is the person in the lane next to me. Since I know I am going to be turning right after I make the left turn, I get behind the car. So what does the car do, it slows to almost 10 miles per under the speed limit. So who goes through the light, he does and I am stuck. Why when if would have just went the speed limit both of us could have made the light?
Why did you have to slow down so much instead of just going the speed limit. Me being in the jolly mood that I was in at this time, I decided to wave to him with one finger. Was that a Christian move, obviously not. However, it still was super aggravating. There was absolutely no reason for that person to slow down other than to be a obnoxious to the other drivers around.
Now on the way back I am in the left lane going the speed limit and quickly approaching the vehicle ahead of me. Again the person is going 10 to 15 miles under the speed limit. Why are you in the left lane? I do not care if you want to go slow, but get into the right lane. So I am forced to pass him on the right and instead of waving to him with one finger, I decide to blow my horn to let the person know that I am a bit upset. Does it do any good? No, this person still drives in the left lane forcing people to pass them on the right which is illegal in our state.
Why are people so rude these days when it comes to driving? When I was growing up, I was taught to respect others and to drive in either the right lane if it was a 4 lane highway, that is 2 lanes on each side or in the middle for a 6 lane highway. You only went into the left lane to pass others, but as soon as you passed you got back into the right lane. These days however, people do as they please and I really do not understand this behavior. Eventually, that behavior is going to catch up with them and to be honest I believe they will have no clue.
It is not only with vehicles, but in general people are just rude and the real question is why? I have a few ideas, but honestly I am not sure. I could blame it on Satan, but is that really the case. I do think He is part of the problem, but I really think people are this way because they want to be. Some how, our society has decided that it is ok to only think about themselves all the time, but when they get into trouble, they quickly realize that is not the case.
Now I know that I let others dictate how I would respond and to be honest my response was not very appropriate. I am brought back to the second of the Greatest Commandments stated by Christ, “Love your neighbor as yourself”. I should learn to turn the other cheek as Christ also commanded because in reality these circumstances really do not matter in the grand scheme of things. Just so you know I never said these actions dictated to us by Christ were easy to implement into our lives. We have to change how we interact with others if we want to be like Christ. The choice is yours to make.
I pray that you are able to make the changes in your life to treat others as they should be treated by Christs commands versus how you think they should be treated at this point in time based on your emotions.
God bless you.
