Alcoholic

There was a time I thought I was potentially an alcoholic. I have had at least one glass of wine, beer, or mixed drink everyday for the past 4 or 5 years and more often than not it was 2 or more. You are probably going yep you are an alcoholic.

I decided on January 6, 2020 to just stop drinking to see what would happen. I have had no urges to drink, I do not miss it, no withdraws issues/side effects, no sneaking off to deceive myself, or anything else that may be associated with an alcoholic.

Whether I was one and God gave me the strength to over come so easily or it was never part of who I was, I am glad that God gave me this gift. The only issue for my family is that I am less talkative when I have had no drinks.

I am grateful because God warns us about being drunk in public, see Epehsians 5:18. This is because our inhibitions go out the window when we are under the influence of alcohol which makes it that much easier for us to sin.

Do you struggle with drinking too much alcohol? If you are not sure, then ask your friends, family, others and see what response you get. However, do not take it too personnel if they say yes. Instead, be thankful that they are willing to risk their friendship with you to let you know so you are no longer blind. Once you know, take it to God in prayer, confess what is going on and leave it with God.

God may instantaneously remove that desire to have an alcoholic drink from you or He may let you keep it to remind you that you need to come to Him with your issues. Does this mean you may have issues from time to time and succumb to the desire to have a drink? Yes! However, just remember that God loves you and wants you to bring this to Him, so just do it and then ask for forgiveness.
