Bigotry

It has been a long while since I posted and this is for a reason. I have been so bitter towards this election that I did not want to focus just on that. I will discuss as times goes on.

It seems everywhere you turn these days someone is being called a bigot for simply not agreeing with another person. This is especially true for Christians because of their beliefs. What people fail to understand is that our belief is that the Bible is the word of God. So a Christian’s belief in that does not make them a bigot. Now that is not to say that a Christian cannot be a bigot, but honestly, most people do not even know what the word means and are just throwing out the word because they know it hurts the other person.

A bigot is: a person who is obstinately or unreasonably attached to a belief, opinion, or faction, especially one who is prejudiced against or antagonistic toward a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group.

Bigotry means: obstinate or unreasonable attachment to a belief, opinion, or faction; in particular, prejudice against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group.

When a Christian does not agree with you because the Bible says it is a sin, that does not automatically make them a bigot. Why? Because a true Christian will still love their neighbors despite their sin in accordance with commands given by Christ when He told us to love our neighbors as ourselves. What makes them a bigot, is when they are not only are intolerable of the person actions, but the person themselves. Yes, there are Christian groups who behave that way.

With that said about Christians, those of you who are calling Christians bigots are also potentially bigots because you are intolerant of their beliefs and act with prejudice towards them because of their beliefs. You do not have to believe in God or Christ, that is your right, but you cannot tell another person that they cannot.

Before you go down the road of well God is a bigot, no He is not. He is the creator of all things and as such makes the rules. He loves everyone despite what sin they may have committed, but that does not mean He will let you into Heaven if you decide to keep those sins.

I have said this in the past, God cannot be in the presence of sin and He did not create you to sin. He created each and everyone of us in His image, but Adam decided to sin which affected all of us. I know that is unfair to hold everyone accountable for one man’s actions, but once Adam sinned it was in our nature.

To show how much God loves us, He sent His son to die for each of us. I need you to really think about that for a moment. You just need to reach out and accept this gift, but there are conditions that must be met.

If you are struggling as a Christian or Non-Christian and are tired of being called something that you are not, then I really urge you and everyone else to stop the name calling, try to see it from the other persons point of view, and pray. This does not mean you have to agree with them, and that is okay. I also urge you to ssk God to help you see the truth and be sincere when you do it. I know for you Non-Christians this may be difficult, but I urge you to do it anyway and to do it in private.
