Enneagram

My wife wanted me to take this quiz to see what Enneagram type I am. Enneagram is nine symbols that represent nine distinct personality types for relating to ones self, others, and the world. Supposedly, each Enneagram has a different pattern of thinking, feeling, and acting, Also, once one learns which Enneagram type they are, it will help them have a greater understanding of who they are. This will in turn help them to have a better relationship with God through Christ.

I have taken it three times to see if there would be any differences in my response. Each time my percentages and top two Enneagrams have been different. I’ve tried to answer the questions as honestly as I can, but I am sure it has changed each time except two questions which are a strong disagree. My conclusion is that this really depends on how you are feeling when you take the test.

Each time 7 to 8 out of the 9 are within a few percentage points of each other. When I read the descriptions of each type, I came to conclusion that I am type 10, a combination of all of them as about 65% to 70% of each type adequately described me.

For giggles, I took the Briggs-Meyers test just to see which personality type I am According to that one, I am an INFJ-T,. Ues, I have taken this one many times as well and I between almost all the different personality types at some point in time. Then I took another test to see if I was Choleric, Sanguine, Melancholy, or Phlegmatic. Of course I took this one multiple times and some times I was extremely Choleric and other times I am more of a bullseye being all 4 about equally. I’ve read the Five Love Languages and disagree with that book as well as it is trying to fit everyone into little categories of how to understand your spouse and be understood by them.

Do I recommend this or any other psychology tests, not really. I am not a big believer that you can narrow people down to specific types by simply taking a test. Furthermore, my thought is who cares. The only thing that matters is that we are God’s children and we need to workout out our relationship with Him through Christ.
