Just care

I work in a highly regulated field where things have to be done a certain way or you get into trouble with the government. To me it is common sense to do things a certain way, but it seems like the recent graduate new hires have a different way and it is leading to sloppy work. Now please do not get me wrong, not all new graduates are this way, but sure seems that way at times.

One of the guys I work with put is best when he was talking to a new hire. We do not expect you to know everything, but we expect you to give a s*!# or we expect you to give a crap. I would like to further add that they need to get rid of the pride and ask for help when they need it or ask questions if not sure. I am not sure if they are taught to never ask questions or if they think they need to know everything or if sloppy work will be accepted or what, but it needs to change.

If you are wondering, when I started in this industry, I made sure to produce as best as I possibly could clean/neat work so auditors would have an easy time of getting through the documentation. Now that did not mean things always went smoothly or we got the results we wanted, but it did mean that the document was filled out correctly and neatly. If I did not understand something I would ask for it to be explained and I did not act like I knew it all because I did not.

This goes along with being a Christian. We are not expected to know it all, but we are expected to ask questions, read the Bible so we can learn, take everything to God, and act like Christ. Sounds easy, doesn’t it? Well it is not. If it were easy, then we would just do it, but Satan and our flesh lead us astray. That is not an excuse, but something we must be fully aware of. In other words, just care what God and Jesus think and things will start to be different.
