Tonight, my son was having problems with his car. I was a bit upset, but I realize that things can happen. My wife and I got everything ready and headed over around 9:45 PM or so.
On the way, I stopped to get gas and noticed a young man talking to a woman. After their conversation was over, I heard him say “God bless you!”. I commented to the young man that this is rare in today’s age for someone to say “God bless you!”, but it was nice to hear. I also apologized for eavesdropping, but he said it was ok. He went on to tell me how he loved Jesus and that Jesus was awesome and I agree with him. He explained that the lady just needed a little help to be able to see her mom. So he filler her tank with $5 worth of gas. We talked for a few more minutes then I told him to be safe when he headed home to Delaware. He responded with Merry Christmas and I did the same.
After we got to my son around 10:15PM, it took all of about 5 minutes to figure out why the car was not starting. Initially, I thought it was the alternator based on my sons description of the problem, but it turned out that the terminal to charge the battery from the alternator was not tight. So it was making contact sometimes, but not enough to recharge the battery and ultimately the car would die and not restart. Once this was fixed, the car started fine and ran without problems.
I think I needed to talk to the young man at the gas station tonight. I have been having a rough time lately with how people are treating each other and that includes me. We all seem to be extremely selfish at a time when we should be the nicest and most generous. This young man with this one simple kind act made me think about how I have been acting.
Thank you God for the challenging situation tonight and allowing me to see your work in action. Thank you for guiding me to what the problem was so it could be quickly resolved.
