What would you do for a loved one? Would you:
- Buy them what they needed?
- Let them live at home?
- Help pay for their college?
- Donate a kidney?
- Sacrifice your life for theirs?
- Introduce them to Christ?
- Help them to live a Godly life?
- Demonstrate how we are supposed to live according to God?
- Be their parent versus their friend?
As you can see the list could go on an on.
So if you are willing to do some of these things for the ones you love, then why is it inconceivable for us to think that God would send His son to sacrifice His life for us? It is not if you take the time to really think about whom God is, but the problem is we would rather see Him as hating, uncaring, and unloving.
If we see God in this manner, then we can consider Him a hypocrite which gives us justification for our actions. This will also allow us to consider us equals and if we are equals then His word is no more important than ours.
When we no longer see God as our creator and Jesus as our Lord and Savior, then that is when the real problem begins. This is exactly what Satan wants. Think about it, Satan offered many things to Christ that would make Him equivalent to or more powerful than God or so Satan would have Him believe. Christ knew the consequences of accepting Satan’s offers, but more importantly, He knew who God was.
So I ask again, what would you do for a loved one and do you now understand how God loved us so?
