Manners

Where have manners gone?   Not everyone is this way, but how often do you say thank you, your welcome, hi, bye, have a good day, talk so loud on your phone that others are part of your conversation, text while out with others, bully people over the internet, forget to hold the door for others, fail to realize that people walk both ways on a sidewalk, fail to yield while driving, stealing parking spots when you see a person waiting, etc.

I find that fewer and fewer people have what use to be called good manners or appear to be rude to others.  Having good manners was a way to treat people not that long ago.  But the reason is why?

I think most people are taught good manners, but then why do they not use them.  To be honest because they lack how to interact with others that they just simply do not know, or they wrapped up in themselves that they could not take the time or they are just angry or they are out for revenge in that I was treated poorly so I am going to act that way towards others or they are just hateful.  The list could probably go on forever and ever, but I will stop with those.

Ask yourself do you fall into one of these categories?  I know that from time to time we all do, but this is more about the person that is routinely like this.  Ask yourself this question, do people like to be around you?  If not, you have to ask yourself why.

Romans 12:9-13 New International Version (NIV)

Love in Action

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

The Bible even instructs us in many way to have good manners.  No that word may not be specifically used, but love is.  How do you love someone without having good manners?

I pray that you are able to change your ways and show others good manners.  Do not expect a return for that is getting paid, instead do it because you love Jesus and God for they have instructed us to do this.  In Jesus name I pray for this, Amen.
