When I mention media, what is the first thing that pops into your head? Was it the news? Most would probably say yes. However, the media comes in many forms.
- Politicians
- Commercials
- Advertisements in magazines or newspapers
- TV shows
- Movies
- News
- Text books
- Fiction
- Art
- Radio talk shows
All of it is designed to stir emotion inside of you that causes a severe reaction and some of it is based on partial truth. This emotion causes most humans to react before actually thinking. Take a step back and take a deep breath before you decide to react.
The biggest culprit at the moment is the news. It does not matter to them if what they report is the truth as long as they are the first ones to get it out. So what if it destroys a persons life, they will simply create a retraction as though that is supposed to make everything ok. So what if it causes a war, they will apologize (Spanish American War). So what if they are completely wrong with their facts, they will correct it later. However, later is usually too late to do any real good.
The people who sponsor the news want drama and intense reactions out of its customer base. This is what sells and the advertisers of these so called “news” programs love the attention their products are getting. If the news can partially report the truth and no one is wiser to what they are doing, then they will continue to do until they are required to stop.
I am not saying all the news is bad, but I am urging you to open your eyes and ears and really pay attention. Most of it is false most of the time. Of course that is my opinion, so I urge you to not take what I say, but go do your own unbiased research.
I was impressed with the CBS This Morning show where they interviewed a black lady and her kids after the Dallas incident. What that lady and children said impressed me. Her and her husband in my opinion have a healthy attitude towards society and are trying to raise responsible children who will view the world through unbiased eyes to gather the facts before jumping to conclusions.
With all of these lies that politicians say, with the lies that the news reports, with the lies you read in text books, etc, then how does one know what the truth really is? It can be a challenge especially if you let your emotions get the better of you and do not really take the time to think. The answer is Jesus. He is the truth, the way, and the life. If you want to know the truth then read the Bible and seek a relationship with both Jesus and God.
