People make fun of millennial’s thinking they cannot work, they are too sensitive, they are know it alls, they seem to lack desire, they are very isolated, they are very passive, they do not listen to others with more experience, they think other opinions do not matter, and the list goes on and one. This may be true, but who is to blame?
Parents and the community raised this generation of young adults, so is it any wonder they are they way they are? In my opinion, no. Parents handed children trophies just because they participated, they gave them unrealistic expectations about themselves, they did everything for them with fear that they may fail if they did it on their own, they did not make them get out and play/make friends, they gave in to their demands by never saying no, they bought them way too many gifts at Christmas, and this list goes on and on.
If you listen to me talk sometimes and if you read the above paragraphs, you may think I do not like millennial’s, but that is not the case. The problem is that you have to basically undo everything they have been taught and that is tough. I will say that millennial’s do care about things, but it is short lived if things are not going their way and they will chastise you if you do not agree with them.
Now you may be thinking what does this have to do with God or Jesus. Well despite their flaws as well as our own, they are loved by God since they are God’s children. I point out what we may think is their flaws so you will potentially take a deep look at your own and realize that no one is perfect and we all are broken in some fashion. We all need the Lord’s grace and mercy and we all need Jesus.
Learn to love one another and accept people for who they are and as they are, broken and in search of something. If you are a Christian, then you have the answers, so introduce them to Jesus.
