I know I have had something like this in the past, but the news the other day had an incident where a person who did something years ago was being chastised. Not sure when it started, but in today’s society, mistakes are not tolerated. When anyone makes a mistake, they are ready to crucify them. Some I understand as it directly impacts us and we have a tendency to get upset when that happens.
Take the young man who put up a go fund me page to raise money for beer. A journalist dug through his social media account to find something he said many years ago when he was young and dumb to publicly shame him. However, the journalist also made some stupid remarks years ago when he was younger and society responded and he was fired.
I mention this because it is getting worse and worse. We want everyone to be absolutely perfect each and every time and if they make one little mistake that was acceptable practice years ago, then we want to hold them to today’s standards.
Why? I am not sure to be honest. Just listen to the news and you will see what I am talking about. I do know we have become the most tolerant intolerant nation on the face of the planet.
One of my favorite verses is:
John 8:7 English Standard Version (ESV)
7 And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.”
We all need to shut our mouths and stop posting on the social media, then we need to ask ourselves have I ever done anything that I’ve regretted before ever making a comment. Please do not think to yourself that the mistake you made is not as bad as others. Society will still judge you harshly which is wrong no matter how you look at it.
We should not be afraid of committing mistakes, but rather we should learn from them. Some of the greatest lessons in life have been when I made a mistake. I learned more by those mistakes than I learned by my successes. It is not the mistakes that you make, but how you handle them that really matters.
