Perspective

I never really pictured my wife as a person with positive perspective, but she taught me something new last week.

In my opinion, a negative perspective can cloud and change your vision. This will make it more difficult to deal with things.

Last week was crappy from one point of view for me. The new TV needs repair, the new audio receiver needs repair, the table saw I purchased feels like a huge mistake because nothing is going right with the installation, next there was bad news locally/globally that makes you question does God really exist or does He really care, then there were all the little things that just added up.

I never blamed God during all, but I will have to say I was/am frustrated and one of my questions is why? I know that Satan is in charge for this season, but it still makes you question things.

In comes my wife with phrases like it is all how you perceive things. Did you not wake up? That was her most common phrase, but it got me thinking.

I can be a half-full or half-empty type of person. Normally, I am a half-full type of person, but it seems like recently I have been a half-empty type person.

Now I could not really find a whole lot about perspective in the Bible the way I am using it here, but there is one thing that God told us.

Philippians 4:6-7 New International Version (NIV)

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Or as Solomon put it, everything is meaningless except God. Of course that is a paraphrase and my own interpretation of Ecclesiastes 1.

So are you struggling with a negative perspective? If so, ask God for help. I know that it what I plan on doing.
