Being a police officer is a thankless job and the media does not help. The media has an agenda and that is to stir up the masses. Not once have I heard anyone in the media condemn criminals. It is always lets condemn the police for doing their job and then lets cry racism to really get the community angry.
I will be the first to say that there are good and bad police officers. It seems like there are more bad ones than good, but that is not the case. It is just that the bad ones get the headlines and then we have what is going on with the riots and looting among the peaceful protesters.
Now because of the bad police officers, there is talk of disbanding/dismantling police forces across the US. This is just ludicrous. Without the police to enforce the laws that are on the books, there will be chaos and anarchy.
Do not think that for a second because that if the police force is disbanded, that crime will go away. It will get worse despite any reports that are out there, that is just the way humans are. Those that want to exploit others will do so whether there is a police force or not.
There is a study that points to NY where the police stopped patrolling certain areas and they did not respond to certain crimes. The report indicates that there were 2100 less complaints during this period of time. Now the question you have to ask is was there really less crime or did the people know that even if they reported it, nothing would be done? So they just stopped reporting it. My comment is, if they are laws then enforce them and if you are not going to enforce the laws, then remove them.
As far as the Minnesota police officers go, I do not care if they are guilty or innocent. I just want them to get a fair trial which will be impossible because they have already been tried by the public and everyone knows this case. If they are guilty, then send them to prison and if they are innocent, then set them free.
Honestly, with what is going on, all police: State, County, City, Sheriffs, etc. should just quit and lets see how we fare without their presence. If We do well and all crime is lower, then I will admit that I am wrong, but my guess is that the purge will come to be real and violent crime will go through the roof.
