Honestly answer this question: Are you seeking God?
Before you answer, I really need you to evaluate yourself and ask am I seeking God or do I expect God to seek me?
I know that may sound redundant to the first question and in someways they is true. The first question puts the ownous on each of us; while the second makes it more balanced.
1 Chronicles 22:19 New International Version (NIV)
19 Now devote your heart and soul to seeking the Lord your God. Begin to build the sanctuary of the Lord God, so that you may bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord and the sacred articles belonging to God into the temple that will be built for the Name of the Lord.”
The answer is God has already sought us. He sent His son down to die for my sins and yours. He gave us His word and we call it the Bible. It is time that each of us do our part and seek Him.
So how do you seek the Lord?
- Read His word and learn it. This does not mean memorized although that is fine, it means learn what the scriptures are actually saying.
- Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
- Stop thinking of yourself only.
- Get out into nature.
- Spend time with God in private.
- Forgive others.
There are many avenues to seeking the Lord. So pick at least one and get started.
No matter what, it is a conscious choice to seek the Lord. The problem is avoiding the obstacles in life that will distract us and lead us down a path that is contrary to God.
