We went to Vegas about a week ago to see George Strait. It was good for us to get away and for it to be just us. It gave us a chance to reconnect. For the last 22 years, we have essentially been with family almost everyday and night. Now, anyone who knows me, knows that this trip to Vegas is not something I would not normally do, but I felt like it was the right thing.
We stayed at the New York New York. It was a decent hotel, but not for the price we paid. In fact I fine Las Vegas to be absolutely one of the most boring places. There are really only 3 things to do, drink and spend a great deal of money, go to shows and spend a great deal of money or gamble and spend a great deal of money. I did forget about people watching which does not cost much other than to get and sleep there. That can be entertaining for sure.
If I find this place incredibly expensive and it is not something that I normally do, then why go? My wife has never really asked for much other than to spend time with me and to see George Strait in concert. If he stilled toured, I would have bought tickets to the closest venue to where we live, but he does not. This only leaves one option and since I was not sure if he was going to perform in 2018 and beyond, this really only leaves Vegas and now.
Ephesians 5:25 New International Version (NIV)
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her
Do not get me wrong, there are other ways I could have expressed my love for her, but this was one of her deepest desires. Does she have others, yes and I pretty much refuse. I am not a big fan of the ocean, but she likes to go and even wants to live close if possible. I use to go to the ocean a lot when I was growing up, but as I have gotten older, I really have no use for it. There are too many obnoxious and rude people and the cost is ridiculous. Am I being selfish, probably, but honestly, I would rather do other things with the money and we can go to the ocean anytime. However, I lover her and if she really wanted to go, I would.
