Unchangeable

I work in a highly regulated industry and am therefore expected to follow certain guidelines.  However, as the saying goes there is more than one way to skin a cat.  No cats were harmed in the writing of this post.

I report to one person who is set in his ways.  He is a very smart person, but he is unwilling to see that there may be a different, not necessarily better or worse alternative.

The other day I had proposed something and he was all excited because it means we may be able to get this method to pass Gauge R&R.  Three days later, he is completely against it. Ugh!

I have tried to convince him that this way is actually a better way to validate the method, but he refuses to listen.  Part of me thinks that I came in after months of getting no where and immediately saw a different solution to the problem they were having.  Because he and/or his previous teams did not see this as a potential solution, he is therefore automatically rejecting it.

Furthermore, he wants to change the method to what he has already envisioned.  I have run into this before with my PhD advisor.  He saw something in his head and automatically in his mind it was doable and easy.  This person I am reporting too is the exact same way.

I will go through the motions of trying to establish something, but unless we can get the part to part variation high enough and within the range of the manufacturing process, this is one method that may not be validatable.  To me this is just the wrong approach, but what to do when people are unchangeable?

I am glad that God has never changed.  If He were to constantly change, then it would be a moving target that would be impossible to hit.  Because of this, we all have a chance at salvation.  The question is are we willing to change?

The process to salvation is very straight forward, but the implementation is very difficult.  We have a choice to this process, to accept or reject.  There is no middle ground.  We either accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, who is the Son of God, who died on the cross for each of our sins, and was risen on the third day, and follow His commands or we do not.  The real question is are you changeable?
