It seems like more and more, there is violence here in America and across the world. The Bible tells us that it will only get worse.
2 Timothy 3:1 New International Version (NIV)
3 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.
This scripture tells us that it will be really bad when the end time is here.
As much as I would like to talk about the end times, that is not what this post is about. This post is more about the US Federal Government trying to take control of its citizens.
I did some research and the amount of deaths that happen each year due to guns and it is somewhere between 9k and 12k. That seems like a lot and it is, but 62% to 68% of those are suicides. Plus this statistic includes all the ones that police shot in the line of duty and the ones where people defended their family, others, home, property, etc. If we take out just the suicides and use the 12k figure, that leaves roughly 4,500 people who are killed each year by someone else with a gun.
Now lets look at the number of deaths related to alcohol and drugs. The one study showed that in 2016 roughly 10,000+ people were killed by drunk drivers. Now we cannot take out the ones where the driver was killed because it is not known if those were suicides or not. A recent report in 2017 says that more people are killed by drugs than alcohol. Well if I use the 10k figure for alcohol and then a 10k figure for drugs, these two things account for 20,000+ deaths each year and yet both are illegal.
We tried to remove alcohol in the 1920’s, it was call prohibition. Long story made really short, it did not work and in fact made things a lot worse. In 2017, in several states recreational use of pot/marijuana is now legal, but of course these people do not get into their cars and drive under the influence.
So why the big push to remove guns from the citizens and not try to eliminate alcohol and drugs? Why not have really stiff penalties for alcohol and drug use?
First the government does not want to put the blame on the people. If you look at most judges, they do not throw the book at the person who just took an innocent life under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Instead, they try to coddle the person as though it is not their fault. Think I am kidding, just in regular traffic accidents where the person who should get punished does not. It is expected that we are to read the minds of other people who break the traffic laws and to know their every move. I have heard stories of people who were in the right get a ticket and were told that they should have known that this person was going to do what they did and therefore it was there fault and not the other drivers even though the other driver was wrong to begin with.
Secondly and probably the most important, is that the government wants to control the people. If there is no one to fight the government, then what is to stop the government from doing what it wants to do? The answer is nothing. If you remove peoples entertainment such as drugs and alcohol, then there may be riots. However, if you can make a gun, any gun seem evil and those that have them seem evil, then it is much easier to get the masses to agree with you.
Once the guns are gone from the citizens, then government will just steam role the citizens. You say we have the Constitution and I agree, but it will be nothing more than a piece of paper because there will be no one left to ensure that the government is following it.
Who do the police and military work for? You and I or the government? While the answer is they work for us, if you ask most people, they will say the local, state, and federal governments.
While violence against our fellow human is uncalled for, this world, as I have mentioned in the past and will continue to do so into the future, is controlled by Satan. Remember these two scriptures:
Ephesians 6:12 New International Version (NIV)
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Romans 13:1 New International Version (NIV)
Submission to Governing Authorities
13 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
So do not go after your brothers and sisters, but instead fight the true enemy which is Satan. Also, be careful of what you ask for, because God may grant it and it may not be what you really want. Read the old testament scriptures in Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. It was a constant rejection of God and doing what was evil in the Lords sight with evil leaders, then asking God to save them and doing what was right in the Lords sight with good leaders.
