In today’s society, life has absolutely no meaning. Before you freak out, let me explain.
Violence is on the rise everywhere. When we have a disagreement, we do not talk it out anymore, we resort to violence. We think it is funny to blindside people with a punch. We run people off the road. We walk up to and shoot or punch or stab or beat or… people for the stupidest reasons. We abort babies like it is a normal walk in the park. We create video games and movies with more violence than real life. In fact, we care more about the pigs, cows, chickens, fish, turkeys, and other animals than we do about humans.
We have decided that punishment is wrong and we should give our children everything they ask for. We treat criminals like victims and victims like criminals. We want to punish people who defend themselves, but want to defend those who commit crimes.
But why is it this way? It has been this way since Adam sinned. Cain killed Abel, God flooded the Earth because evil was in man’s heart all the time, rulers want more land/power, and the list goes on. This has to do with man’s flesh, the world, and Satan.
Yes, I blame a lot on those three things, but it is the truth. The only way to overcome this is to focus on obeying the Lord, reading and following the Bible, and emulating Christ.
We need to show more kindness, mercy, forgiveness, love, patience, selflessness, and compassion. I know it sounds like a utopian world, but think about it. If we would act this way, the world would be a far better place.
I know I struggle in almost all of these areas and my tendency is towards violence. Lord please help me to be more like Christ.
