Being hateful

Today on the plane, I had one carry on.  I put it up into the overhead storage because I do not want to put my feet on my computer.  Well a lady wanted to put her big bag up there and wanted me to take my computer bag and put it under my seat.  I said no.

Then another lady that was there made a comment about we should not be allowed to put those up in the overhead storage.  This was when I became sort of hateful.  I paid for my ticket the same as you and have just as much right to place my carry on in the overhead storage as you.  I told her that if she did not like, that she can check her bag.  In fact if everyone checked their main luggage there would be so much overhead storage that it would not matter.

The reason I said I became somewhat hateful was due to my attitude and what I said after that.  I basically told the lady that made the comment that she can go F herself.

Was it Christian like, absolutely not.  Was I right well that is up for debate.  People think they are entitled and that people who interfere with their entitlement are at fault.  My thought is that it is first come first serve and I have as much right as you.  Could I have moved the bag, sure, but I think it is more the attitude in which was said.

I just wish I knew how Christ wold have handled the whole situation.  I am sure He would not have been nasty to the lady the way I was, but would he have moved His computer bag and not worried about it, or would He have turned it into a teaching situation or both?

I pray that God will provide me the wisdom to make the correct choice as well as how to deal with people when they act this way.  I pray that God will help me to quickly realize when I about to be hateful and stop it,  As a Christian, I represent Christ and today I know I failed.
