Disappointment

Have you ever been disappointed?  I know I have, but I ask myself why.

Well the answer is simple, it is me and my expectations.   When we expect people to act a certain way, food to taste like we thought, places to be as pretty as imagined, things to work as intended, etc., we become disappointed.

We have an idealized way something or someone is supposed to be and when that does not happen we become disappointed, but it does not have to be that way.  This does not mean we reduce our expectations, but we must be realistic and be able to role with the punches.

Not everything or maybe anything will workout the way you want.  If you are unwilling to accept this, then there is a good chance you will be miserable throughout your life.  I am not suggesting you become like Eeyore and go “Woe is me!”, but more like figure out what happened and try to correct the error so the next time it goes more like the way you expect.  Again this does not mean just because you fix something it will always workout the way you want.  What I am saying is do not give up.

I want to be home instead of on the road to earn a living, but every time I have applied for a local position I end up getting rejected. It is not due to qualifications, but more like the companies do not want to pay for my knowledge and expertise.  Am I disappointed, of course.  I have my hopes set on getting a job to be home to make my wife happy.  I could just give up, but I will not.  This may mean I have to start a new company or career.

No matter how much we are disappointed with the world system, our heavenly Father will never disappoint.  He is trying to do everything to bring us closer to Him and His Son and yet man rejects Him a lot and in fact some reject Him 100% of the time.  I do not believe He gets disappointed in us, but cannot figure out why we reject Him and continue on our sinful way.

If you are wondering why I think God does not get disappointed with us, well it is due to Free Will.  God gave us Free Will so we have the choice to follow or ignore Him.  He loves us and wants us to be with Him and has provided a path for us to be saved to be with Him forever.  However, the choice is ours.

I pray that if you are experiencing disappointment in your life, that you seek a relationship with God. He can heal you and is waiting, will you make the first move. Now understand, if you ask God to heal you, the answer may be yes, no, or wait.  So I encourage you to pray and wait for the answer.
