I know I am guilty of this and that is arguing when I know I am right, but does it really matter? Do I have to prove or argue with a person that I am right?
The answer to both is no. It does not matter if you are right and you do not have to argue with a person or prove that you are right.
Why I do bring this up? What usually ends up happening when you try to prove you are right? You get into an argument or become quarrelsome. But what does the Bible say about this?
2 Timothy 2:24 New International Version (NIV)
24 And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. 25 Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.
So it is better to know you are right and just walk away versus trying to prove that you are right.
Titus 3:10 New International Version (NIV)
10 Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them.
If you are like I am and find it hard to walk away when you know that someone is doing or saying something wrong, then ask God for help. I am not saying do not tell them they are doing something wrong or they are saying something wrong. I am telling you not to argue with them. I do not believe God wants us to sit back and say or do nothing, but it is how we handle the situation that is important.
You represent Christ so think of that when you approach someone to talk to them, but remember to pull the plank out of your eye first. If you do not understand that reference, then either research it or wait I will post something soon.
Remember that through Christ all things are possible, but you must take the first step.
