My apologies for taking a small hiatus. It becomes challenging writing at times.
All of us are hurting in some way or fashion. It might be depression, cancer, bacterial infection, viral infection, etc. With this, we all need physical healing.
However, that is not the healing that I am referring too with this post. I am talking about spiritual healing.
People are leaving the Christian faith by the thousands daily never to return. They are taught one thing, but they experience something else and it is causing confusion and disillusionment. These people are experiencing betrayal, rejection, sin, loss, and/or abuse.
I would venture to say that all of us are spiritually ill, but we have no clue. The problem is that we are believing what Satan is saying and ignoring Christ. The healing process starts when we confess our sins.
James 5:16 English Standard Version (ESV)
16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
1 John 1:9 New International Version (NIV)
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Part of the problem is that a good number of us do not consider what we are doing as sin. We fail to remember that sin is simply going against God. Now once we realize our problem and the healing process starts, we need to protect it so it does not become infected yet again.
Romans 12:2 New International Version (NIV)
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
A good portion of the healing process has to deal with the mind. We need to control our thoughts and focus on God.
We need to monitor our spiritual healing process to make sure that the wound is not reopened.
1 Peter 5:8 New International Version (NIV)
8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
We could focus on the hurt, the injustice, the anger, the doubt, or the hate that we first experienced which will only reopen the wound or we could get help from the Great Physician. We need to turn it all over to God after we have done our part, but that is most difficult since we like to hold onto all that stuff for the future.
If you are hurting spiritually, start by praying to God to show you. Yes, you may not even know that you are hurting, but that does not prevent you from praying to God to show you. Just be prepared for the answer, because you may not like what He shows you.
