Hoarding

Not sure this has been a thing of the past, but it seems like more and more people are becoming hoarders. My mom is one.

It is so bad at my parents house that there is literally clothes and other crap everywhere with very small paths to get around each room. On top of that, my parents know there are mice in the house and it is causing health problems.

At what point do you intervene and say something? My parents are adults and can spend their money however they like. However, this is not healthy and it seems to be making them sick.

What is causing this hoarding phenomena? Is it demonic or is it fear? It might be a bit of all things. My parents were around during the great depression and I am sure some of it is fear of having nothing.

It seems like hoarders are in search of something and they are trying to find it through buying stuff. There appears to be almost an emptiness wihtin and they are filling it with items.

What they needs is for us who are younger to care about them and show them love through Jesus Christ. Think about those who are in their 60’s, 70’s, and even 80’s or higher. There have been so many changes over the past two decades with regards to technology that it is hard for just about anyone to keep up. The way we communicate and interact with one another has completely changed. It is easy to see why hoarders exist.

My advice is take the time to interact with those who are older. All they really want is your time and attention. It will do them a world of good and who knows, it may do you some good at the same time.
