Hard Work

Making and keeping goals is hard work. It takes a lot of energy and determination to keep on the path once goals are made.

Take exercise as an example. One must have a goal. Is the purpose of exercising to get in shape, have better health, become/get stronger, get ripped, obtain a body you have always desired, or … Without goals, one is kind of flailing in the dark.

Now put this in context of having a relationship with God. Why? What is your purpose? Is it to know God or to get something from Him?

I would venture to guess that most people start a relationship with God to get something from Him. As they mature, that does or should change to what can you do for God.

The reality is God does not really need any of us, but that is not the point. It is our love for Him that drives us to do His will.

Maintaining the path to have a relationship with God is very difficult. There are many obstacles, but it is our love of money, fear of judgement, fear of disappointment, fear of not being heard, our flesh, or other treasures in our hearts that ultimately leads us astray.

Matthew 6:21 New International Version (NIV)

21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

The question comes down too what is in your heart? What do you want to be in your heart?

Are you struggling in your relationship with God? I know that I am. It is not that I do not want a relationship with Him, but that I am a constant disappointment to Him. I like you need to go to Him in prayer and ask Him to show me the path.
