Sinful Nature

Since the time of Adam, man has been born sinful.  You may think that is unfair, but once Adam and Eve decided to eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, all humans were tainted.  In other words, the actions of two people have dictated the future of all mankind. Thankfully, there is a solution.

Romans 7:18 New International Version (NIV)

18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

Romans 7:25 New International Version (NIV)

25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.

Lets recall what sin is:

Sin is going against God.

It is that simple.

We as humans live according to our flesh.

Romans 8:6-8 New International Version (NIV)

The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

We want to do what we want to do whether God likes it or not.  If we want to get drunk in public, we do it.  If we want to have sex outside of marriage, we do it. If we want to gossip, we do it.  This is living according to the flesh.  We also associate all of things as fun and think that if we are to live how God wants us to live, then we will not be having any fun.  However, that thought process is flawed and not true.

You have been lied to by Satan as to what is fun.  Think of those people that do mean things to others all in the name of fun.  To the person who is doing the action, it is fun.  However, to the one the action is being done is not fun.  Christ came so we can have life and have it more abundantly.

John 10:10 New International Version (NIV)

10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

You can continue down this path of being sinful or you can try to change.  If you decide to change, you will need Gods help.  Remember, God is not about your happiness or you having fun while you are alive.  He is about your salvation.  You need to decide what path you will take.

If you choose to follow God, it will not be an easy path.  I know a lot of you are given false information that once you follow God, things get easier. However that is not true.

John 16:33 New International Version (NIV)

33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

So knowing all of this, what will you do?
