Wait for God

In today’s world we move at an extremely fast paced and we expect God to keep up.  What we fail to realize is that God is already ahead of us, but wants us to slow down so we can hear Him.

Have you ever prayed and expected God to immediately answer you?  Why were you in such a rush? Have you ever waited for God to answer or were you basically praying as you were hurrying off from point A to point B?

God wants us to wait for Him.  However, we think that God either has not answered, does not want to answer, or did not hear us.

More then likely God did answer, but you were so focused on the next thing  or in a rush to the next place that you did not hear.  God will always answer, but the response may be yes, no, or wait.  God hears all of us.  So those excuses do not fly.

The real problem is you.  You are expecting God to answer on your time, not His. Gods answer is never late, but you have to be still and waiting for Gods answer.

So why does God make us wait:

  • It helps to reveal your true motives
  • It helps to build anticipation
  • It helps to build patience
  • It helps us grow closer to and rely more upon God
  • It helps build and transform us

Hosea 12:6 New International Version (NIV)

But you must return to your God;
    maintain love and justice,
    and wait for your God always.

Psalm 27:14 New International Version (NIV)

14 Wait for the Lord;
    be strong and take heart
    and wait for the Lord.

Ask yourself are you really waiting for God or are you just too busy with worldly stuff?  Now ask yourself, which is more important?  God will never force you to wait on Him, but do not be surprised if you miss something.
