In America, it used to be that you were innocent until proven guilty, but anymore that is just not true. In today’s world, all you have to do is make an accusation and then you are guilty until proven innocent.
Take Charlie Rose, while he did do at least some of the things the girls accused him of, everywhere he was automatically guilty all across media and social media. He was suspended from CBS Good Morning until an investigation could be done. He was guilty just because of the accusations. People believed everything these girls accused Mr. Rose of, but not once did people question why did they wait until now. Did any of them approach Mr. Rose in an inappropriate way? Did he misunderstand their intentions? Did they want something from him? Did they ever speak up and tell him that it was inappropriate? Did he ever threaten these girls with their jobs?
Am I defending Mr. Rose, absolutely not. I do believe that he should have known better, but sometime people just do not think. However, we have to consider all angles otherwise it will become a world of accusations just because one person does not like another.
What got my blood boiling today was how Tennessee students, alumni, and others reacted to the offer made to Greg Schiano. These people basically tried to ruin his career with false accusations. Yes, as of now the accusations are false. It is one person said that another person said Mr. Schiano witnessed the molestation/rape/rape by Sandusky. However, this man was never convicted of a crime. It is all hearsay and these people should be ashamed of themselves.
People get really upset with me when I point out that all people have sinned. On Facebook posts, I called them mistakes, but anyone who was reading the post and is familiar with the Bible should have known I was basically referencing this:
John 8 New International Version (NIV)
8 1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
2 At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
11 “No one, sir,” she said.
“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”
To God, sin is sin. There are a few that He considers worse than others, but for the most part it does not matter what sin is committed, the punishment for all is the same and that is “Death”.
Romans 6:23 New International Version (NIV)
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The point here is that people really need to focus on their own life first before they start focusing on others and condemning them.
Matthew 7:3-5 New International Version (NIV)
3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
Matthew 7:2 New International Version (NIV)
2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
I am asking each of you and the includes me to take a hard look at your life. Is there any area of your life that needs improvement? Do you make mistakes, but don’t want to admit them? Do you like to think you are better than other people and hold them to a higher standard than yourself? Do you have that plank in your own eye, but you are trying to pull speck of sawdust out of your brothers? We all need to think before we take action.
